Everyone is familiar with the Biblical, “As you sow so shall you reap.” I’m not really into Biblical quotes, but I think this is a good one. Always keep in mind that what you put out into the Universe will come back to you. It’s also known as the Law of Karma.
It’s one of the basic laws of manifestation, immortalized in “The Secret”, a book which was madly popular several years ago because it finally let people know that they create their own reality. And that’s all well and good and probably very simplistic, because there are many other possibilities factoring into it. People have free will….which means that they can do as they like, basically, even if it goes against their own soul’s path. Many people have been victims of other people’s free will. Think of all those who perished at the hands of the Nazi’s during the second World War.
And there are of course exceptions to the converse: As you reap, so shall you sow. But for the most part, abuse is generational. Many of those who abuse others have themselves been abused. Alcoholics give birth to children who will become alcoholics. Racism is learned through the generations and passed down through the generations. Hatred, bigotry and anger are all generational.
Of course this is doubly true with the concept of epigenetics which postulates that the results of trauma are passed on through generations via the genetic code. So the trauma of my ancestors being persecuted is carried in my genetic code.
These are interesting concepts to consider when we raise our children and relate to others. Add that to “As you sow, so shall you reap” and we have a whole new reason to behave in a loving and compassionate manner besides religion (which doesn’t seem to be working anyway).
Think about it.
